Importing Excel data to InDesign document

Hi,

I am working on a document in which I create a price list for few thousands of articles.

I wish to have an opportunity to import prices from my Excel file according to article codes e.g.

InDesign document

1. Article A       0001

2. Article B       0002

Excel document

1. 0001 = 30 USD

2. 0002 = 40 USD

My goal is that InDesign automatically replaces both codes 0001 and 0002 with proper price (30 USD and 40 USD). So in the future I will only change the Excel file and will be able to update the pricelist quite easily.

Can anyone help me in doing it?

Can you further clarify the structure and content of the Excel document? Does it contain the article names (i.e. "Article A") or not, or will those only be in the InDesign document? Will the content of each cell include "number" + = + "price", or will the number be replaced by the price? Screenshots of your Excel spreadsheet at the start of your workflow when the content is first placed into InDesign and after a price update would be helpful.

Excel can be made uppon requirement. For the moment I have 2 colons. A with name and B with price.

In InDesign numer (right colon "Cena netto") shall be replaced by the price. I can also change the codes for some more uniuqe. Just want to know if it is possible what I wish to do.

For a task like this, you may wish to consider a catalog plug-in as they are better suited to this task: https://helpx.adobe.com/au/indesign/plug-ins.html

Otherwise this video from Anne-Marie Concepcion may be of some assistance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=95&v=yjEa0Zk75-o&feature=emb_logo

If the answer wasn't in my post, perhaps it might be on my blog at colecandoo!
