Importing Mac Numbers Spreadsheet into Indesign Document

I'm trying to copy and paste information from a Numbers spreadsheet into an Indesign document. When I do this, I highlight the whole table I have created in indesign. However, the text only flows into the first column down. Is there a setting I am missing?

A quick test tells me that if you export the Numbers file as an excel file (under advanced, choose xls, not xlsx). Then you will be able to place the file into InDesign.
