I have created a data merge file which has a series of labels. I would like to print a page number at the bottom of each page (not on each label). How could I do this?

On the Master page (or pages, if your document has facing pages)
Type > Insert Special Character > Markers > Current Page Number
On the Master page, this will show as a letter corresponding to the Master Page name. On each master-based document page, it will show the page number.

If your merge fields are on the document page, then you can do this pre-merge on the master page. Once the merge is complete, it can also be done in the merged file.
And yes, you will need to create a text box on the page before inserting the page number.

I'm not sure I understand your question here. As you can see in my screenshot, the indicator on the Master page will show a letter, but when the pages are created, each will show it's own number. One master page

I am using Creative Cloud. Does that make a difference? When I insert the number on my master page it gives me an actual number and not a letter. However, it now produces a different result. Rather than putting 6 labels on a page (which is what I want), it puts each label on a different page?

If you are seeing an actual number, then you are not actually putting it on a Master page. You must be putting it on the same document page as your Merge fields. Look at your pages panel - the Master pages are located in a section above the regular pages, and have default names like A-Master, B-Master, ect.
Putting the number on the documet page would also give you the result you are seeing (of now getting one label per page), becasue the Merge is duplicating everything that is on that document page. (this won't happen when your merge fields are on the docuemnt page and the page number is on the master page.)
