In Indesign, updating a linked excel spreadsheet is causing the column order to change. Why?

Please help! I am linking a spreadsheet into my Indesign document, it comes in fine and styles well but when the excel spreadsheet is updated it changes the order of the columns in the Indesign file which is very strange. Does anyone know why this is happening and what to do to stop it?

That is pretty strange. Can you help us see the problem better by demonstrating, perhaps with some screenshots?
