I have been experiencing crashing when updating or saving an InDesign file for InCopy. This has steadily gotten worse. Has anyone else been experiencing issues? We use InCopy for books, and this is now becoming so unstable, we may have to drop InCopy and go back to the tried/true designer making all the changes.
Anyone out there have a constructive fix??
Thanks, sraybuck

Not without more details.
What version of InDesign / InCopy? What operating system?

Hi @BobLevine,
I'm running InDesign 2020 and just upgrade my InCopy to 15.0....but the crases are coming via InCopy...and have been happening when I saved and check all back into InCopy (if existing project) or if I'm exported all via Assignments/New.
Does this help any?

Wait...what's crashing? InDesign or InCopy? And again...what operating system.
Are you exporting a local drive or a network drive? What if you skip the assignment and export the stories as unassigned?

Max, Catalina 10.15.2
From InDesign, crases when exporting to InCopy (new document) or after updating and saving/checking back in will sometimes crash OR I get the spinning beach ball of death.

We used to have a similar (this same?) issue some time ago, but it disappeared when upgrading to an upper release of the same version (CS6) of both programms.
In any case, it was a real pain in the neck because it was an elusive trouble, almost imposible to pinpoint to a given set of events and much less almost impossible to reproduce on purpose. Besides, InCopy is an excellent piece of software but it is not so much used as Photoshop or inDesign. That means less support for bugs, a shorter base of users, less sound conventional wisdom about its peculiarities, etc.
This said, from our experience and from similare experiences of some other users around the net, avoiding non-ASCII and white spaces when naming InCopy files (IDML) used (seemed?) to alleviate it (less instances of crashing).
But upgrading both programmes is the first option I'd try.
PS. Catalina OS might be still a bit bleeding edge for both programms. So, downgrading some machines to Mojave might render good results. Just an idea.
