Incorrect Colors Displayed When Applying Selections in Color Picker

Hello,

I'm having trouble with the colour picker.

If I want to colour a box / circle etc black, it responds by making the colour grey.

If I want to colour the box pink, it responds by making the colour green.

I'd read up online and a few suggestions were to clear the cache (which I did).

It's a bit annoying as I can't continue with my work.

Does anyone know what to do?

Many Thanks.

Clearing cache is one thing - have you reset preferences?

Can you share a sample document?

Hi, OK, I'm going to do all these tasks & get back to everyone.

Thank you for your help.

I think that it is simply because you have still the cell selected. Press the escape key to unselect it.

I have uploaded a couple of screeshots showing what is happening.

Hi @S27627784ghqp,

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with the color picker—this sounds frustrating.

Could you please share the version of InDesign you’re using and the details of your operating system? We tested this on our end but couldn’t reproduce the issue.

Is this happening with a specific file or across multiple files? If possible, could you share a small video of your workflow? That would help us better understand the problem and assist you more effectively.

I believe you must have reset the preferences correctly, but just in case, I’d like to share this reference article with you.

Looking forward to your response!

Thank you,
Abhishek

Hi Abhishek,

Thanks for your suggestions.

I can confirm that this issue is only happening within tables. So, if I draw a rectangle the fill colours display correctly.

I've tried opening other InDesign documents & the same issue presents. In fact, the colours that are being displayed don't really have any logic to them. In one document If I choose a yellow cell background, I could get blue. IN the other, if I choose a yellow cell fill, I could get purple.

I'm using Indesign 19.5.

I've attached a couple more screenshots.

Really appreciate the help.

Hi @S27627784ghqp,

Thank you for the update and the additional details. It’s helpful to know that the issue is occurring specifically within tables.

Based on your description, it sounds like there may be a problem with the color settings or a conflict within the table's properties.

Would you mind sharing a screenshot of the "Color Settings" with us? (Go to Edit > Color Settings and make sure your color profiles are correctly set for your document.)

Additionally, it seems color is exact opposite of the selected color. The reason being current cell is highlighted.
Could you click anywhere outside of the table (once picked the color) and update if you see the right color?

We will wait for your response.

Thank you,
