INDB File moves elements in INDD files

I have an INDB file im trying to make with about 100-INDD files, WHen i open any one INDD file its all fine and everything looks good. WHen i go to make the INDB file for this book the INDB file end up shifting elements everywhere and messes-up the layout and formatting for the whole book. Elements from the right pages are on left side and vice-versa. THe book is in order in groups of 4 so i know its not a numbering issue.

It was defintly a pagination issue on my end. I ended up seeing the INDD's were made in groups of 7's and needing the 8th page added manually. Thus it would literally SHIFT the pagination.

Here files structure:

Cover

Table of Contents
Introduction
Information Section
Note Taking

Information Section
Note Taking

Etc......

Can i take 1- NoteTaking.INDD file and replecatite it across the book? Rather than opening each "InformationSection.INDD" and then Addin the "NoteTaking" manually?

I hope all this makes sense, "long time reader. first time posting" jitters haha

Digging deeper in the meantime. All of this came down to the auto check box being turned on while assembling my book. Since the INDDs are design in 7's and i still needed to add the 8th page follownig each INDD file. I was adding 7-pg documents, then batch loasin 8th-pg document, then reordering. ID was ofcourse doing its jobs in auto rearraging, but since the INDD were set up in a way that the elements on a page were not on masters and just as free floating, ID rearranges and would save the messed up version so I could go back to fix after words.

Once turned off I can arrange book freely without element-shift, then sync, number, preflight/fix, and export.

HUGE thank you to you both for helping in a huge pinch!

Have you sync'd your book? Depending on your options, that could change documents.

What are your pagination settings in the book? (I don't think you mean "numbering" but pagination (left/right page shifts).

Otherwise, I can't see how a book file would affect a document.

Sorry terminology is a bit rusty. Where can I find pagination settings?

Files are made with locked objects instead of putting things on a master page. Could this be causing a shift?

The "good ol' left/right flip-flop" has caused problems since desktop publishing began. I aways suggest to check the pagination settings before adding any chapters to the book. InDesign's default pagination settings (below) can cause a lot of problems if not set in advance.

This is a great thread. I have a book that is set to automatically add a blank page to ensure each chapter starts on the right side, but... My book shows chapter 2 starting at page 9 which is correct (8 is blank), but when I export the pdf, Chapter 2's first page number is 8. I'm baffled as to why that is.

It sure SOUNDS like a numbering issue...

Did you have any oddities/discontinuities in the numbering at places whre you may have created a new section start, perhaps?

I wish i had a better answer for that :/......recently started new postion, was given files to make into INDB file. I cannot say for sure how the files were made. Unfortunatly cannot suppliy screenshots either.

Something im noting though, the pages ARE NOT made with master files. Only logo lives on each master page.
Elements that should be master-elements are placed as text-wrapped elements on the page and grouped together with page information. (Sorry if this sounds confusing).

Would that be causing the shift in things that thus messes up the whole book?
