Question

Indeisgn files are showing as [Read-Only]

It is possible for them to 'File / Open' choose the file and 'Copy' rather than 'Normal' or 'Original', this gives them a new file which they can save as, and then reopen as normal.  They can then save on this file for a while, but if we close Adobe InDesign down and then reopen, the new file opens as Read-only.

We're also seeing lots of files that are being opened [Converted] due to 2023 release being installed.  We understand these need to be opened and saved again so both the original and the converted file exist.  But we don't understand why various files are opening as [read-only]

Adobe, please help

Hi @lindumg85265659 ,

Sorry to hear about the trouble. If the files are saved on any external drive, please ensure that the drive has full disk access as suggested my Manan Joshi. To provide full access, please try the steps shared in this discussion https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign-discussions/indesign-files-on-external-drive-open-as-read-only/m-p/12909695#M475210

Let us know if this helps or if you need any further assistance.

Regards

Good morning Rishabh

I think these instructions are for a Mac operating system to allow access to an external drive. Our problem is showing on Windows 2019 clients (Citrix) and when files are stored on a Network drive. The problem is also intermittent, in that I can save the a copy of the file to the same network location and then continue to edit and save that file, but when I try to open it again later in the day it becomes Read-Only.

Kind regards

Kevin

Your network speed is too slow.

Please provide more information to like what is the OS you are using, where are these files stored on the local computer or a network drive? If you are on a MAC make sure that you have full disk access to the drive on which these files are saved.
