InDesign 15.1 crashes on while launching on Windows 10

After upgrading to InDesign 15.1, launching the application hangs briefly upon opening then crashes.  This happens when opening stand-alone or opening an indd file from Windows Explorer.

The CopyPlugin VBS errors because it says InDesign 15.0 is not installed.

Uninstalling v15.1 and installing v15.0 then upgrading v15.0.3 resolves the problem.

Cannot upgrade to v15.1.

We have released InDesign 2020.1.1(v15.1.1.103) with a lot of stability fixes. We recommend you to upgrade to latest version (if you’re not already on it) as it is more robust.

If you still face this issue even after updating, please submit the crash report to us. (Guidelines to submit crash are available at (https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/submit-crash-reports.html )

Hi Thomas,

Sorry to hear about your experience. I'd recommend using Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to remove the existing installation of the app and install a fresh copy. Also, please make sure OS & GPU is updated to the latest version. Let us know how it goes.

Regards,

Ashutosh

@sanyamt

Thank you.  I applied the latest update (15.1.1) and that resolves the issue.  I'm unsure the subversion as InDesign About and Creative Cloud only lists the version as 15.1.1

Hi, How about for OSX Catalina 10.15.6?

Updated to InDesign to 15.1.1, After the bouncing icon at the dock when you click launch... it just freezes then  completely stop moving. Never made it to the actual splash screen launch. So, I exit by force quitting the app. It won't launch again until I do a restart.
