We have released InDesign 2020.1.1(v15.1.1.103) with a lot of stability fixes. We recommend you to upgrade to latest version as it is more robust.

Running Windows 10 Pro, administrator privileges. Updated to v 15.1.1 x64. Crashes everytime I start it. Ended up checking the permissions on my Windows 10 users file. Used process to change permissions (Took Ownershipl of folder). The problem no longer occured. The process used can be found at the following link: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/3841-add-take-ownership-context-menu-windows-10-a.html

Updated to 15.1 on Windows 10. First started to notice crashes when testing out the new "Online Review" features. Old files open, but when I create a new file, it kept crashing. Installed 15.0.3, and it works perfectly fine.

We are aware of one crash on PDF export due to Indexed PNGs in the documents with 15.1 release. Can you please check if your document also contain PNG?

Hello sanyamt,

Indeed, there was a very small indexed PNG file (7 kb).
Once the PNG was replaced by a JPEG, the PDF export didn't crash.

So this confirms the bug you mentioned, but I guess a corrective update is planned soon, because it seems to me that, especially for logos, PNGs and their transparency are very much used in layouts.

Thanks in advance,

Yours sincerely,

Hervé

I had the same problem after updating Indesign.
After the start, Indesign crashed with a Error.

After many attempts I found out that it is due to my antivir software.
In my case GDATA-Internet Security (current version / update from June 16)

If I under "Real-time protection" an exception for the path C: \ Program Files \ Adobe
Indesign starts again.

I do not know if it also affects AV software from other providers.
I have already informed Adobe Support. I hope this helps you further.

In meinem Fall GDATA-Internet Security (aktuelle Version / Update vom 16.06.)

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about your experience. Please make sure Windows 10 & GPU are updated to the latest version. You may also try resetting the preferences. Try following steps to do that:

  • Close all Adobe applications.
  • Go to Locations :
  • C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Adobe
  • C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Adobe.
  •  Rename InDesign folders to InDesign.old
  • Launch InDesign from CC.

**Please note that resetting preferences will remove all the custom settings and InDesign will launch with default settings. This way all your old settings will be saved in .old folders and InDesign will recreate new folders with default settings.

Let us know if it helps.

Regards,

Ashutosh

Hi, I had to uninstall InDesign en re-install the program in an older version (15.0.3). That works for me.

Thanks for the help

Hello,
I had the same problem.
If you are on macOS, restoring InDesign 15.0.3 by Time Machine solves the problem.
