InDesign 19.2 Black lines over text

Hi everyone,

I'm working on a book and when I was scrolling I saw these black lines over certain parts of the text. I tried deleting and posting again, changing the font, and cleaning paragraph and character styles but nothing worked. Only on this couple of pages, from 152 to 166 I have this problem. Everything else is normal.

I hope someone can help me to solve this problem.

Thank you!

My guess is that Shading is enabled. Edit > Select all (or at least select that section) and turn it off in Window > Type and Tables > Paragraph.

Yup...and as I said above, it's likely to be from a fake Word file.

Hello pluto58,

Please try refreshing your view or resetting your workspace. Check for overlapping objects or hidden layers on pages.

Why in the world would you even think that workspaces would have anything to do with this?

Thanks for your input, sometimes refreshing the view or resetting the workspace can resolve unexpected display issues that's why I recommended. sorry.

My guess is that you placed a fake Word file. Perhaps one that was exported from Google Docs. If that's the case you need look deeper at the text to see if there's paragraph rules or shading applied to that text.

It seems you imported word file in InDesign. Pls create a new style just for testing and apply it and clear overrides.
