InDesign 20.0 Issues with "Share for Review": Lost Comments and Links

Explorer ,
Oct 15, 2024 Oct 15, 2024

I'm currently in the middle of working on a project where I am using the Share for Review feature, after updating to 20.0 the authosrs previous comments and the link to the shared file have been removed.

This is not exactly convenient.

I've now figured it out, the file must be saved-as a version 20.0 file before the comments will show up.

Hi @design_simon,

Thank you for reaching out! I understand how frustrating it can be to lose comments and links while using the "Share for Review" feature.

To assist you better, could you please provide the following details:

  1. The operating system you are using.
  2. Can you still see the reviews if the review link is created from a document in InDesign 19.5?
  3. Could you drop a screenshot of the link generated from InDesign 20.0, as well as one from 19.5 for comparison?
  4. Is this issue specific to a particular file, or does it happen with multiple files?

Looking forward to your response!

Best,
Abhishek Rao

I'm using Macos 15.0.1. The updated to 20.0 removed 19.5 so I don't that version installed.

I'm only using share for review for 1 file.

Upon opening the file in 20.0 the review pallette was empy and I had to recreate the link for the author.

Luckily there were only 4 changes to the document today, I was able to see these comments through the web version and make those changes. I've now deleted the previous version of the web link so that the author cannot make further comments because I cannot see these in InDesign 20.0.

I'm sure you can re-create this bug by opening a file created in 19.5 that has share for review in 20.0.

Hi @design_simon,

Thank you for the detailed response! I appreciate your patience as we work through this issue.

I tried reproducing the problem on my end, and the "Share for Review" feature seems to be working correctly with documents from both InDesign 19.5 and 20.0. To assist you further, could you please share the previously created "Share for Review" link from the 19.5 version, along with the file itself? This will help us investigate the issue more thoroughly.

Looking forward to your response!

Best,
Abhishek Rao

Sure, can you please let me know how to share the previously created share for review link?
