InDesign 2019 and Ligatures not working

Hi all

I cannot get Ligatures to work in InDesign 2019. Tried:

— several different fonts,

— switching 'ligatures' on and off in Character menu,

— ensured tracking is set to 0

— restarting the app,

— restarting the Mac.

Any thoughts? Tearing my hair out!

Can you post a screenshot with text in a font that ought to have ligatures, and the Character Panel showing? Make sure it's with your text cursor in the text, so we can see what is applied at that point. (As a common error is to show this panel but with no text selection, and there is additional formatting to the actual text, which kind of defeats the purpose.)

I only see two ligature glyphs in your panel, and the first appears to have a dot on the "i". The "L" in the second does not appear to exactly connect to the "f" as in my second example (Lato Black).
