The latest version of InDesign (2019, AKA 14.0) has serious flaws and should probably be withdrawn. I see any number of reported problems in the forum that indicate a lot of time being wasted on workarounds and issues that render it unusable. The problems are known and have been acknowledged by tech-support staff. Anyone trying to solve the numerous problems should just go back to your last working version and wait until Adobe posts an upgrade.
Adobe?
Hi,
Sorry about the delay. I am hopeful that the issues are fixed. If not, please try updating to version 14.0.1. For more details please refer to InDesign CC October 2018 (14.0.1) release notes
Feel free to let us know if you still need assistance.

Hi Dovetailpub:
You are posting this on the user-to-user community forum—users helping other users with workflow issues. If you want to report any specific bugs for the InDesign engineering team to see, please do so here: Adobe InDesign Feedback .
Here's my tip: it's always a good idea to wait a while before installing any upgrade: operating system, software, phone, etc. Hopefully, you didn't remove 2018 when you upgraded, but if you did you can always reinstall 2018 via the CC Desktop App and then wait for the all-clear on 2019.

Hi Barb,
Thanks for your reply. I posted here because I thought I might save other folks time trying to get it working right.
This might be the very first time I have upgraded to a new version on the day it dropped. Bummer.

Ok, great. I just wanted to clarify your comment.
And glad Peter and John aren't having any difficulties. I'm experiencing enough random sluggishness to hold off moving any real work to 2019 for a bit.

Have the many reported bugs in InDesign 2019 been fixed?
I worked with it (14.0.1) for about three weeks and it was infuriating... keyboard shortcuts stopped working, menu options would change, display looked terrible, delete button would only work about 40 seconds after hitting it, constant font errors with system fonts, all files would open and show that they were unsaved on open...
Anyway, I reset my computer completely, and am about to re-install my CC apps, and I'm wondering if I should just go with InDesign 2018 to avoid all the bugs.
Any recommendations?

Most of us are working just fine with InDesign CC 2019.0.1 (14.0.1) on the current version of Mojave with none of those problems.
What OS (exactly) are you trying to run?

Which version of Windows 10? Early versions are problematic.
From the Adobe tech note re Window 10:
In order to take advantage of the latest operating system features and technologies, Creative Cloud 2019 apps require Windows 10 Creators update (version 1703) or later. If you're on an older version, Microsoft provides a free update to the latest version of Windows 10.

CC2019 wouldn’t even install on earlier versions so I doubt that’s is.
I’d be looking at font issues or third party plugins, especially font managers.

Hi:
I am not having any issues with InDesign 2019 and have been using it daily.
Give it another try, but leave 2018 installed in case you have any issues.

I dunno. I practically live in InDesign, and it's been a pretty seamless transition here.

CC2019 works fine for me too.

Both Illustrator CC 23.0 and 23.0.1are unusable for me as well. I've tried numerous fixes and work arounds, but have had to use 2018 to get any work done (most files can't even be worked on due to the file freezing (while the cursor still works and can click some items) and memory issues. My only advise would be DO NOT UPGRADE until this is fixed (whatever "this" is).

Display and page-navigation performance currently a deal-breaker for me. ID13’s handling of multipage docs (20+-page chapters) was/is bad enough, but ID14 has changed the grab-hand page-movement functionality and the display and movement response times are complete sht. Can’t use it really. Yes I can resort to scroll functions but we’re talking muscle memory retraining that shouldn’t be nec and is def a less efficient way of working.

No problems for me on my MacBook Pro 2016 and latest Mojave and InDesign updates. You will need to be very specific about what problems you're talking about. Don't know what you mean by " ID14 has changed the grab-hand page-movement functionality and the display and movement response times". Unknown to me what you're talking about.

I have tried upgrading to 14.01 and 14.02 (Mac) and both seemed to have introduced a problem with my GREPs that worked in 14.0. I import XML data into a template (for a college class schedule) and use several GREPs to clean up the formatting and empty data fields.
The same GREP commands now have problems locating all of the items, sometimes giving zero results, and sometimes only giving a small number of results. Depending on where I am in the document and try searching for something like multiple tabs in a row /t/t/t/t/t/t it will give different results, often finding more when going backwards in the document.
I rolled back to 14.0 and after opening the same InDesign file with the imported XML data, it executed all of the GREP commands flawlessly. I did the same test on two different Macs and had similar results.
