InDesign 2021 Background Tasks Blue Wheel Constantly Spinning

I'm using a Mac (Big Sure 11.5.2) with InDesign 2021 and as soon as I open a file after a fresh launch of InDesign the Background Tasks blue wheel begins to spion constantly. It doesn't seem to affect performance but it's really annoying. Is anyone aware of what might be causing this and a possible fix? Thanks.

I've not experienced this or have a good explanation but you could try the good old reset of the InDesign Preferences.

Launch InDesign while holding down the following keys...

  • Mac: Command + Option + Shift + Control
  • Windows: Control + Alt + Shift

Keep the keys held down until the dialog box appears.

why does updated programs always have issues...they should fix bugs and not add to it....

anyway thanks this worked

  • Mac: Command + Option + Shift + Control

it stop the background running of font issue, that blocked it.

Hi,

Sorry to hear about the trouble. Did the suggestion shared above helped? For investigation purpose can you confirm the exact numerical version of InDesign & macOS.

Thanks

I'm using 2023 InDesign 18.1, my macOS Ventura 13.6.6

and this command worked.

  • Mac: Command + Option + Shift + Control

it removed the preference, which had background running some fonts... then I was able to export PDF after this command.

Hi, an update: I've deleted that installation completely, installed the latest version of InDesign 18.0, reset Preferences as part of that and it's still happening, even when there's no document open but Indesign is running, the blue circle just sp[ins round and round. Puzzled
