The program closes while the text is being copied. When trying to recover a file, the program also crashes. The file is a template downloaded from stock, everything can be edited etc. but it crashes just only when I copying text.
Open it again, export as IDML, open exported IDML, save with a new name - should fix the problem.
IDML changes all text formatting ;(
What template is it?
Sounds like something is wrong with it.
Can you point us to where you downloaded it from?
Template downloaded from envato elements, just like presentation template
This has not happened with any other file before.
Are you on Windows or Mac?
Ok - IDML is not working.
Can you try save it as an INDesign Template.
When you open it it should open as Untitled or something similar.
Still the same. The program crashes ;(
Is this happening only with this one file - or others behave the same? Maybe try to trash InDesign's preferences?
It seems that only this file has a problem. And file copy and recovery. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Adobe's instruction to reset preferences doesn't work.
It doesn't work ;(
What doesn't work?
neither way fixed the problem
I suspect the file you got as a template is damaged. You should contact the supplier.
I have the exact same problem with a template I downloaded from Adobe Stock. If I hit Cmd C, everything crashes and the recovery file will crash as well. Did you ever find a fix for it?
Same for me please do something Adobe I pay money and it should work!
You'll have to elaborate on exactly what you're doing, version on InDesign, your operating system, which template and exact steps to reproduce
Sorry to hear about the trouble. Please share a few more details like:
-The version of InDesign & OS.
-Is this happening on a specific file or multiple files?
-Where are the files saved? Locally or on any network or shared drive?
