Hello.
I have a problem with indesign font autoactivation.
When i insert a picture to document, all the fonts are deactivated.
When i insert another picture in to the document, all the fonts are back.
I use Connect Fonts for font activation.

What kind of fonts are you activating? Adobe Fonts found in fonts.adobe.com?
> I use Connect Fonts for font activation.
I don't know what that is? Is it a third party product. That's not how you'd activating Adobe Fonts.

I use Extensix - Connect Fonts. I use this app 15 years at least. Of course it was many times redesigned, but i belive it is a quality app.

Hi @martin OP ,
as far as I can see from your video InDesign is showing the text in pink for missing fonts for all of your text after you placed the first JPEG image. However, that does not mean that the fonts are really missing. You may have noticed that the text rendering is still correct and InDesign is not using substituted versions of the fonts.
Will InDesign's preflight show missing fonts as well?
If you select text, is the applied font style's name in brackets?
It could be that the issue is not with font activation.
Maybe it helps if you are trashing the InDesign cache data when InDesign is not running…

What is your exact version of InDesign?
FWIW: I still cannot see the next update for InDesign, version 18.4.0, in my Creative Cloud Desktop App here in Germany.

"Hello, my version is 18.3"
Quit InDesign, backup and then trash InDesign's cache folder named Version 18.0, restart InDesign.
That may help as well.
[Your User Folder]/Library/Caches/Adobe InDesign/Version 18.0
More details at Restore all preferences and default settings here:

If this does not help:
Disable the Extensis software.
Restart your machine.
Does this help? File a bug report with Extensis.

OK, so im back with reply form EXTENSIS:
Greetings Martin,
From looking at the screen capture this looks like a bug specific to InDesign as we can see that the fonts are still auto-activated in Connect at 35 - 37 seconds into the video. All of the Lora font weights are still activated with a blue diamond indicating they are auto-activated in our application. You should check whether the same fonts are available to use in something basic like TextEdit and whether they are listed as active in the Mac OS System Report tool under the Software->Fonts section.
If the fonts are still available within Text Edit and listed within the System Report then this is an InDesign issue which you will need to report to Adobe.
Im starting to feel like a post man. I pay for both applicatons. This is not my mistake, but i pay for it.

Hi @martin OP ,
can you tell what Adobe did do on your machine?
Was a font cache deleted perhaps?

This thread is 2 years old. The correct answer is above, as well as all otherwise available info.
You'd want to start a new thread with a detailed description of your issues, as well as the complete info on your operating system, InDesign version, and font management software (if any).

Same problem, Extensis Connect Fonts + Adobe Indesign 2025, Win10, Adobe fonts disabled in CC App and disabled in Indesign prefs

Does it mean that the original post describes exactly the issue you experience:
I have a problem with indesign font autoactivation.
When i insert a picture to document, all the fonts are deactivated.
When i insert another picture in to the document, all the fonts are back.
And that the correct answer here doesn't solve your problem:
HEllo, adobe connected to my mac and deald with it- it was a conflict between adobe and connect font activation of the same font. Resolved. Thank you.

Exactly the same problem and "adobe connected to my mac and deald with it" - it is NOT a solution of a problem

The main part of the correct answer, which you omitted, is this:
it was a conflict between adobe and connect font activation of the same font.
Is it possible that you're facing the same issue?

That's exactly the problem, but I wrote that I have Adobe Fonts disabled, and why it still tries to activate the font is completely unclear. Especially since it happens when importing any bitmap image into Indesign

What font exactly is that?
Can you post a screenshot of the Find/Replace Font dialog that shows the missing font.
Is it possible that you have this font installed in multiple places, especially in an Adobe's fonts folder, which conflicts with the Connect font activation of a different version of the font?
Also, try to reset preferences and caches, just in case (even though this didn't help the original poster):

Montserrat, Nota Sans, this is what is currently in work, but in general it happens periodically with other fonts too. When importing a vector or bitmap image, fonts are deactivated and this window appears. At the same time from Connect Fonts it is impossible to force their activation. Only closing and opening the document helps.

Also, by "Nota Sans" did you mean Noto Sans by any chance? If so, then Noto Sans is a system font, so make sure especially that it's not installed anywhere else.
