Indesign 2024- can't drag objects

New Here ,
Mar 24, 2024 Mar 24, 2024

I'm having trouble being able to move objects (photos, text, etc) around a document with the selection tool. I have done a LOT of searching in forums and google, and can't find anything that applies that I haven't just tried. If I restart my COMPUTER, then open indesign right afterward, I'm able to freely move photos and text around a document. Later (length of time varies) it will just stop working. Theres no pattern that would suggest why it stops. Just restarting Indesign itself doesn't do anything. I've tried trashing the preferences. My objects and layers are not locked. I read something about master pages, but this has just been in single page files. I'm on a windows laptop. Any help would be appreciated!

I am having the same issue! It started this weekend randomly. Nothing on the page is locked, it's not on a master page. I try to move anything and it shows the red symbol saying it can't do it. I uninstalled INDD, re-installed, it magically worked! Then ten minutes later, poof, it's happening again...I haven't changed any setting, it makes no sense. It's happening on old files, brand new files, everything. HELP!
