InDesign 2024 Freezes Immediately After Opening or Creating Files on macOS 14.6.1

-> Adobe Indesign running on: iMac 27 - 2022, Mac OS 14.6.1 / 40GB RAM

Hi everyone,

As the title says, no matter what I do—whether opening an existing document or creating a new file—InDesign immediately freezes. In fact, it creates the document (or opens it), but the loading cursor (spinning color ball) appears, and the application becomes unresponsive indefinitely.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the program multiple times, restarted my computer several times, and even tried installing previous versions. The issue persists, and I’m out of ideas.

Can anyone help? I really need to get back to work!

Also, try to create a clean new user account in System Settings > Users & Groups and work from there. Will it make a difference?

Can you update your OS to the latest version? You're on 14.6.1 - but there's 14.7.1 out now I think

So it was OK before?

Have you installed anything?

Upgraded InDesign / OS?

Check your file / folder privileges.

So it was OK before?

It was ok before? Yes. When, I don't remember.

Have you installed anything?

I have installed lot of stuff, cannot track everything .

Upgraded InDesign / OS?

Yes as suggested.

Check your file / folder privileges.

Of the file I want to open? At that point, it's even just when I open it.

@novadmedias

Privileges to the InDesign's installation folder.

And maybe profiles folder - I'm not Mac user, just remember few people mentioning it here.

Can you let us know your system specs?

Try resetting your preferences:

Windows: Start InDesign, and then press Shift+Ctrl+Alt. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files.
macOS: While pressing Shift+Option+Command+Control, start InDesign. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files.
A dialog will appear asking to delete the InDesign Preferences, select 'Yes' on this dialog.

Reinstalling rarely fixes everything - you can do a complete reinstall using the
