Beware of InDesign 2025 - everyday a new problem. Today, CAN'T DELETE ANY BOXES - select any TEXT BOX, IMAGE BOX , press delte - it just beeps at me. The items are NOT locked, nothing on the page is locked. InDesign 2025 is GARBAGE. BEWARE, and keep InDesign 2024 Installed.

@smithjenny

Can you share your affected document?

Is the problem with only one document - or all documents?

Hi @smithjenny,

Thanks for reaching out. I understand this must be frustrating, but we can try a couple of troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue:

  1. Reset Preferences: Sometimes, corrupted preferences can cause unexpected behavior like this. Here's how to reset them:

    • Quit InDesign.
    • Hold down Shift + Option + Command + Control (Mac) or Shift + Ctrl + Alt (Windows) while restarting InDesign.
    • When prompted, confirm to reset preferences. For more details, you can refer to this link.
  2. Create a new user account on your system and check if the issue persists there. This will help determine if it's specific to your current user profile. Reference: https://adobe.ly/4eFBo93
    https://adobe.ly/3AGOO72

  3. Boot your system in Safe Mode and launch only InDesign 2025. This will help identify if any third-party apps or plugins are interfering with InDesign's functionality.
    Reference: Win: https://adobe.ly/4eG6w8r
    macOS: https://adobe.ly/3Z2IsGV

  4. If the issue continues, could you share a screen recording of the problem? This will help us better understand the issue.

Also, could you please share the details of your operating system version? It will help us provide more accurate guidance.

Looking forward to hearing back from you!

Best,
Abhishek

Hi @smithjenny,

I’m really sorry to hear that you’re still experiencing this issue despite resetting the preferences. I completely understand how frustrating this must be, especially when you're relying on the software for your work.

Before moving forward with downgrading to InDesign 2024, were you able to try creating a new user account or booting your system in Safe Mode as suggested? These steps can sometimes help resolve unexpected issues that might not be related directly to the software itself.

If you’ve tried those as well and the issue persists, I’m happy to help you explore other troubleshooting options. Please let me know how it goes!

Thanks for your patience,

Abhishek

Hi @Abhishek Rao I did try to start in safe mode - same problem exists. I am not going to create a new user profile. I don't know how to make a screen recording.  I did uninstall the 2025 program - and will use InDesign 2024.
