InDesign 2025 Crashes using Spell Check

Recently had to use InDesign 2025 on a fairly large brochure document. Spell checker would work as long as all the text was on the page you were showing on the screen but as soon as it had to jump to a new page in the same document - it crashed. Not sure what the work-around is for this but I often work on multi-page documents so this is an important feature.

Hi @DragonfliesDesign,

Thank you for reporting the issue with Spell Check in InDesign 2025. I understand how critical this feature is for multi-page documents. Let’s troubleshoot this further:

1. Is the issue specific to a particular file?
Could you confirm if the crash happens only with one document or across multiple files?

2. Screen Recording Request
If possible, please share a screen recording that demonstrates the crash. This will help us better understand the workflow and narrow down the root cause.

3. Basic Troubleshooting Steps
   - Follow the steps in this [crash troubleshooting guide](https://adobe.ly/3YTjAkU). These steps often resolve common issues.
   - Ensure your InDesign version is up-to-date and running smoothly on your operating system.

4. Crash Report Submission
If the issue persists, please submit a crash report through this link: [Submit Crash Reports](https://adobe.ly/3UW09qG). Include your email address and a brief description of the issue so the engineering team can investigate further.

Please let us know once you've tried these steps, and feel free to share any additional details that could help us address the problem.

Best,
Abhishek Rao

Thank you,

No particular document. I do mostly multipage catalog work and have discovered it mainly happens when it tries to "replace" or "check" pages other than the one I am on. I have done all the above as well as submit reports when it happens, just seems to be a bug in 2025.

Same issue on every document I spell check in 2025 - really frustrating and hindering my workflow massively!

Unfortunately, for now, the only solution is to downgrade to 2024.

Are you running the latest update, InDesign 20.0.1?

I don't have that update available yet. I'm running 20.0 - I've figured out that it happens when it tries to "Replace All" and when it tries to spell check moving to the next page. So maybe some kind of bug with the transition to other pages?? I hope they can fix these soon - I do a lot of catalog work.

Check again if you have 20.0.1 available; it should now be available in all countries.

Patch up to v20.0.1 and the crashing will likely go away.
