InDesign 2025 crashes when opening

InDesign 2025 [1225]

 

InDesign crashes when trying to open it with the error:

Notes:
PC register does not match crashing frame (0x0 vs 0x10AF467B6)

Crashed Thread: 0 Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread

Exception Type: EXC_BAD_INSTRUCTION (SIGILL)
Exception Codes: 0x0000000000000001, 0x0000000000000000

Termination Reason: Namespace SIGNAL, Code 4 Illegal instruction: 4
Terminating Process: exc handler [1225]

 

Crash logs sent

 

InDesign 19.5 works fine.

 

Have restarted, uninstalled, reinstalled, etc

Thank you for the update and for providing the screen recording. Since the crash persists even in Safe Mode, I recommend following the troubleshooting steps outlined in this article: Troubleshooting Crashes on Launch.

Hi Abhishek

Resolved thank you.

  • Disk Utility found no problems.
  • Preference and cache permissions were OK
  • ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe permissions for me were Read & Write permission, "everyone" was Read Only. Changing "everyone" to Read & Write resolved the issue and InDesign 2025 now opens.

Additionally, could you share a screen recording that shows exactly what happens once you click on the app icon to launch it? This will help us better understand the problem.

Hi Abhishek

Same crash in Safe Mode.

While in Safe Mode I also

  • deleted InDesign 2025
  • deleted ~/Library/Caches/Adobe InDesign
  • deleted ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign/Version 20.0
  • reinstalled InDesign 2025.

Same crash on opening.
