A few times a week I experience instability with Indesign. For example, I just had to close the program because when I clicked File>New>Document the new doc window that opens would not allow me to select any options and would not create a new doc when I clicked the button. I couldn't select 'CLOSE' either. Indesign became complete locked up because the 'New Document' window stayed open and I couldn't close it without a force quit.
This occurs randonly and not just when creating a new document. I could be working on a job I've had opened all day and it will become unresponsive. There are times where I get odd color blocks showing up in my layout but its just on screen. This only happens when I work in Indesign.
I want to go back to a more stable version but I've already created so much in version 20.2 and sometimes I get reverse-compatability issues. Anyone else have issues with an unresponsive UI?

Currently there are many things possibly upsetting InDesign.
Likely, you will experiment with resetting InDesign (which has 4 techniques)

I hope Mike's suggestions helped resolve the problem. If not, kindly try running InDesign under Safe Mode (Windows / macOS) and under a different administrator account (Windows / macOS) and let us know if it helps.

I will go through and see if I can locate the issue. Network may be an issue as I am on an administered, school district computer and the issues occur despite having a Mac Studio with 32gb RAM. Thanks much for the quick reply Mike.
