InDesign 2025 wont create the .idml file when packaging

I created a large document in InDesign 2025 that I need to send off for translation but when packaging it fails to created the .idml file which the company needs in order to do the translation. Has anyone encountered this issue? I've tried to convert the file to Indesign 2024 so I can package it from there but seems to fail converting back. I'm not sure how to resolve this issue.

Could you confirm the exact version of the OS/InDesign installed, if InDesign behaves this way with all files / folder locations, and screenshots of the error message, so I can better assist you?

Hi @Anubhav M, 

It's InDesign ( v 20.3.1 ) which should be the latest. It tends to freeze when it comes down to creating the mark up file. I've packaged one other file in this version of InDesign and seemed to work just fine.

Thanks for sharing the details. The folder location you are using seems to be synced using a file-sharing service like OneDrive/Dropbox/etc. Can you try copying your file and exporting to a local folder, to see if it helps resolve the problem?

I moved it locally but still freezing up when creating the idml file while packaging.
