I have been having issues with InDesign displaying a greyed out box where an image should be, you can see the image in the Pages panel. My type is also looking very low res.

I am using the most up-to-date version of InDesign

I am perplexed.

What are your display settings set to?  Preferences / Display Perfomance. If set to "Fast" you will get gray image boxes. Can also be set locally on page/object by right clicking / Display Performance.

That fixed it. Thank you so much. For some reason, InDesign reset the preferences and that wasn't checked.
