New computer, Creative Suite 2020. When in Indesign and selected print (chosing Adobe PDF). Going into preferences, I am not able to choose things as before on my older set up. I can pull down default settings but Edit doesn't work, security doesn't work at all (pulldown empty), adobe PDF folder doesn't let me browse. I have a 24 - 48 hour call back from adobe coming but thought I might get help asking here.

I've moved this from the Using the Community forum (which is the forum for issues using the forums) to the InDesign forum so that proper help can be offered.

How are you using 2020 on a new computer? It's not available for download any longer. Also, please stop printing to PDF.

Use export instead.

Sorry, I'm probably mistaken its the most recent cloud subscription (I thought called 2020 but I guess I'm wrong)

My indesign says version 17.0.1

That is InDesign 2022, but my point stands. Use file > export and choose Adobe PDF (Print).

Thanks, I do export almost everything. But there are a few instances I use the booklet feature. I know its frowned upon here but it was handy for an occasional job I work on.

Printing to the PDF drivers is OK when using the booklet feature, but your post(s) read like you are doing it directly from the Print dialog box. Is that what you are doing?

The Print dialog settings use Distiller's presets. That is where you can make the overall settings and then customize them in the Print dialog box.

Also, are you on Mac or Windows?

I am windows 10, the issue is only with the Print booklet option in indesign. I think I got a workaround by printing to postscript then distilling. I'll also have to check out acrobats feature, I only just recently got Acrobat DC so I'm still figuring it all out. Thank you for your help!

If you are using the Print Booklet menu:

You can create your preset first using the Print Preset menu (but it's not necessary):

When you go to Print Booklet, you can select the preset at the top:

OR you can click the Print Settings and create your preset there:

Standard advice: Export a PDF properly and use Acrobat's booklet printing feature.

Are you referring to the Booklet option in Acrobat's print dialog box?

Are you not able to export from Indesign to PDF? I would go this route, rather than printing to PDF.

I'll agree with the advice to export rather than print to PDF (and there are a number of booklet scripts you can use to impose before export if you don't want to use Acrobat's native booklet printing). That said, if you still want to print to PDF you need the ADPDF9 printer description file. YOu can download it from my Hightail page here: https://spaces.hightail.com/space/vBLxr447s0
