Hi All. This might be an Apple thing, but I have a new MacBook with Big Sur and my computer was randomly shutting down while using InDesign. Anyone have this issue in Big Sur?
I have found that the past two days it will shut off while I am trying to export a pdf.
I receive the following message (see attachment).
Where is the option to recover NOW? Why would I want to recover later?
Anyway, my fingers are hotter on the keyboard to quickly save my documents than ever before.
My IT dept suggested to me to remove InDesign preferences, which I did and I seemed to be OK for a week and a half, but then it started again yesterday. They looked at my computer logs and didn't see anything wrong. I'll check with Apple as well..
Does your new computer contain the new M1 computer chip? If so then the problems are probably caused by the fact that Creative Cloud apps do not run natively on a computer using the M1 chip. They are actually running through Rosetta 2 and there have been many reports that the emulation is not good. For more inromation about using Creative Cloud apps with M1 see: https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/kb/apple-silicon-m1-chip.html.

Thanks Bill! I checked under About this Mac and do not see the M1 chip listed. Good to know, though. I am working on updating my Mac to version 11.2.2. Apple said that might help..

Hi there,
Sorry about the inconvenience caused. The first Beta release of InDesign for Apple silicon M1 is now available to download. Please try installing by following the instructions on this page and share your observations with us.
