InDesign and Photoshop crash

Hi Guys,

if the InDesign files are saved locally on the PC, we have no problems.

if we save the files on our file server and edit them from there, it occasionally crashes. Especially in connection with many shortcuts.
Based on the error message I assume that InDesign loses the connection to the network path for a second. Do you know the problem? Can someone help me? Perhaps you can set in Windows that it should always keep the connection?

Has this been an ongoing problem for some time or has it begun since a possible update to either your version of InDesign or your operating system? If it has happened since an upgrade then contact your network administrator to find out if the server software has been updated to be compatible with the new version of InDesign or your OS. Many times networks don't get updated right away due to the need to keep them compatible with firewall and virus protection which most likely have not been updated.

Hi there,

I agree with Bill & Eugene both. However, since crash is happening while working on files saved on the server, it is recommended to look into the permissions of the directories where files are saved. Please connect with IT admins about this.

Till then, you may save the files locally and copy them on the server(if needed). I hope it helps.

Regards,

Ashutosh

Sounds like something your IT specialist will need to look into.
