Hello,

I have problem, which need to be fixed as quick as possible.

I just bought new Mac book pro for my work, and its about week I was using indesign. This morning I wanted to open program and it failed. It says: Indesign CC quit unexpectedly.

I was searching on internet trouble issues, and this what I found and tried:

- rebuild preferences with cmd+cntr+shift+alt while opening program. NOTHING CHAGED.

- made a copy of indesign app folder, and opened copied one. Tried two times - first - update, NOTHING CHAGED, next - don't update - NOTHING CHANGED.

- manually deleted catches and preferences. NOTHING.

- deleted all fonts - NOTHING.

- deleted all my work on indesign, opened program, but nothing changed.

- turning pc with shift key to start safe mode (or whatever it calls mode), program still didn't open.

So, anyone, could please help me. What else can I do?

CAUTION IN USING THE "CHANGE UUID" AS SUGGESTED (ASIDE FROM THE FACT THAT IT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM FOR ME). IT SEEMS TO HAVE BROADER IMPLICATIONS. I AM HAVING ISSUES WITH MUCH MORE THAN INDESIGN NOW.

UPDATE:

I did save the old UUID and so I pasted that back into the pref to replace the new one I created. Then I reinstalled Indesign and rebooted.

Indesign is now working. Go Figure? And the other issues that popped up have disappeared.

I've had problems with indesign and photoshop conflicting, pointer running slow, and after updating my os to 10.12.6 my photoshop and indesign files wouldn't open at all. But I fixed all the above problems by resetting my UUID number in my user account, you go into users and hold control while on your user, (unlock first) this takes you into advanced settings. There you can reset your UUID. Adobe software running like a rocket now.

That's a troubleshooting step I've not heard of before, and I'm glad you found it solved your problem.

Resetting the UUID .. where exactly did you "go into Users"? Is that a Mac OS  thing, a Windows OS thing, or an Adobe account thing?

Hi, it's for mac only. But this fix, maybe unique to my Mac, as i've set it up differently to the normal spec. My user account sits on an external HD via a USB3 cable. This allows just the OS software and apps to run on the smallish internal 256gb SSD.

I followed the instructions to uninstall and on the reinstall it hangs at 99%.

Have you tried using Adobe Cleaner before reinstalling InDesign ?

Yes I tried that and no change. Another odditiy is that when I do the reinstall it always stick at 99%:

At this point I would suggest uninstalling InDesign using the uninstaller that you'll find in the InDesign application folder and then installing it again from the Creative Cloud desktop app. After you do that and before you try and launch it for the first time manually delete any InDesign preferences and caches so that you will start totally fresh.

To manually delete preferences:

With InDesign closed Launch a Finder Window in column view and click on your home folder. With the Option Key pressed choose Library from the Finder Go Menu. Within the Library folder find the folder called Preferences and within it find the following two files and delete them: “Adobe InDesign” and “com.adobe.InDesign.plist”. When InDesign is next launched it will create new preference files and the program will be restored to its defaults.

To manually delete caches:

Within the Library folder find the “Caches” folder. Within the Caches folder find and delete the entire file “Adobe InDesign”. I find that deleting the cache file completely leads to a lasting change.

After you’ve reset up the program (make sure that no document window is open) to your liking, it is a really good idea to create copies of your personalized “mint” preference files (make sure that you quit the program before copying them—that finalizes your customization) and use them in the future to replace any corrupt versions you may need to delete.

I thought it was recommended to uninstall the application by using the drop-down menu (icon) in the Creative Cloud app.

Derek is correct. Use the CC Desktop app for this.
