Hi guys!
Is there no longer a mini Bridge function in Adobe InDesign CC 2018? Can't find it in the software and can not find anything about it online also...
Probably some other way around it. Trying to create a photo book and working with cmd+d and searching the right picture over and over again is quite irritating....
Hi Wytsekoos,
MiniBrodge has been removed from InDesign from few versions now. Please see here Adobe InDesign CC 2015 and Mini Bridge FAQ
Thanks

It’s gone. I believe it was flash-based. You can set up Bridge to do anything minibridge did. Perhaps if you expand on what you were using it for we might be able to help.

Hi Bob,
Thank you for your help.
I can use bridge instead but it is not the best "workflow" environment...
I am creating a photo book of my pictures taken from my long distance walk in Ireland.
The process:
+ First I loaded my pictures into Lightroom. Created a selection of preferred images and make changes to the pictures.
+ Second I exported the selection into a folder.
+ Third Creating a document in InDesign and also a design.
+ Fourth Creating object frames and importing pictures to them. Not wanting to use them all, now I can combine and order the the right way in the design. Using the cmd+d option is hard, I have to search the images all over again. Using bridge makes my screen very small. (add another screen is an option, however... not having the space)
Using the mini bridge in the past did the trick. Also CC Libraries is great, however not for this particular job.

You'll have to adapt to using Bridge.
Mini-Bridge was based on Flash technology which has been dropped. Mini-Bridge also disappeared from Photoshop as well. There's no indication it's coming back.

Again, you can resize the bridge Window to anything you want. I’m trying to keep an open mind here, but I’m not seeing where mini bridge could be any more beneficial than just creating a new workspace in Bridge.

Thanks for the help.
Adobe usually makes software better everything. Unfortunately not this time.

Flash is dead. There’s a whole outcry in the Bridge forums over the removal of the web gallery plugin. It created SWF files. They are virtually worthless.
Technology changes. We need to change along with it.

Jane-e's FAQ link shows that this is about $ not a preferred coding language. Setting up different workspaces is kind of a pain—mini bridge was a great plugin. The FAQ implies it could come back.
Given our customers have other options to access assets, we have decided to deprecate Mini Bridge technology and have added the feature to our future roadmap.

Selective choice of quotes, Rob and I see nothing about it being about money.
How about this one?
The Mini Bridge panel was built on a Flash technology that is no longer supported and needs a complete redesign going forward.

Right the plugin language used to be MXML/ActionScript (Flash's coding language) and now it's HTML5/JavaScript. It may be the HTML5/JavaScript language is inferior to ActionScript and is not capable of coding a new mini bridge panel—I doubt that. I think it's more likely Adobe doesn't want to spend the cash on developing a new JS version of a fairly complex panel.
Meaningful new features are hard to come by in a 20 year-old print application. I would trade paragraph shading for mini bridge in a heartbeat. I'm happy to read it's on the Adobe "roadmap".

I agree. I can't believe mini bridge was dropped. It was a great feature and I used it often when designing books with lots of images - saved a lot a time when your client gives you unorganised images. The filmstrip idea is a great tip.

MiniBridge was dropped from both InDesign and Photoshop primarily because they were written as Flash-based panels. Those have all been removed.

Here is the FAQ for Flash-based Mini Bridge:

You can put Bridge into Filmstrip and let it run across the bottom.
If you use a Creative Cloud library, dragging links it to the CC Library. Option (Alt) + Dragging does not.

I use the film strip across the bottom, waiting and hoping for a non-Flash rendition of Mini Bridge. Glad it's working, at least for now!
