Making a hyperlink email address like normal - but when I test it does open my google chrome browser but not my gmail app.  Used to work fine before upgraded to the newer version of Indesign - please help.

I got it to work - followed these instructions

  1. Open up Google Chrome.
  2. Open Gmail in one of the tabs.
  3. Look at the right side of the address bar for the Protocol Handler icon. They look like 2 intersecting diamonds.
  4. Click the handler icon. It looks like overlapping diamonds. You should get a small dialog box that asks you to Allow mail.google.com to open all email links?
  5. Choose the Allow radio button.
  6.  click done
  7. Click Done.

Not that it really matters but, where is this email link? Mailto links are an absolutely horrific method to use. There is no way to control what users are doing and there's a better than even chance, it will try to launch something that won't work.

My advice: NEVER use them. Link to a proper HTML contact form.

Probably setting the default email app would resolve this issue. See the following link on how to do that and let us know if this helps
