InDesign CC crashing on launch on macOS

I've just downloaded the CC version of InDesign to my MacBook Pro but every time I launch it it crashes.

I'm running OSX 10.8.3, 8GB of ram, 8GB of disc space and I've tried trashing the prefs but it doesn't even make it to that dialog window. The UI appears and that's it boom! I've sent the crash log to Adobe but I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions or things to try to get it up and running?

I had the exact same problem today. It was a font in my case. Just open fontbook and disable all of the user fonts. Restart Indesign... if it opens without crashing... bingo you've found the problem. Re-enable the fonts until you find the culprit.

Adobe Indesign CC - Version 9.0

  Model Identifier:MacPro1,1
  Processor Name:Dual-Core Intel Xeon

  Total Number of Cores:4
  L2 Cache (per Processor):4 MB
  Memory:4 GB
  Bus Speed:1.33 GHz
  Boot ROM Version:MP11.005C.B08
  SMC Version (system):1.7f10

  System Version:Mac OS X 10.7.5 (11G63)
  Kernel Version:Darwin 11.4.2

We're on the right path here. I don't have an 'Ithorn' font, but I disabled my user fonts and InDesign CC now opens.

So the culprit is related to fonts!

the crash seems related to the 2bytes fonts - i get the crash also with only the Apple 2 bytes fonts Apple Gothic & Apple Myungjo in my font lib. With only the roman font in my font lib i can launch Indesign CC.

I'm having the same issue in both my MacBook Pro and my iMac. I honestly don't know what to do at this point... I've tried everything.

Can't seem to find the thread I was looking for about permissions, but I would definitely check the permissions on the user library for ID CC.

Also, it might help to delete the files/folders John lists here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4232300#4232300 (adjusting for CC from CS5.5), and since it looks like there might be some text involvement inthe crash reports, disable the auto-activation plugin if you use a font manager, and try a general font troubleshoot: Troubleshoot fonts | Mac OS X

Those crash logs look familiar and I think they point to a permissions problem. No promise, but I'll see if I can find one of ht eother threads that has a potential solution.

Same issue here. Running OSX 10.8.4, 12GB of ram. Crashes on startup for me, can't even create a document or anything.

Same thing as Tony, could you share your crash log as well? Here's how you can obtain it: http://bit.ly/idcrashlog

A few standard troubleshooting steps we'd like you to test out:

1. Recreate preferences: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/526990

2. Disable any third party plug-ins

3. Starting your computer in Safe boot mode: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1455

4. Creating a new user account and see if the issue persists

Please let us know how it goes. Thanks!

I've tried recreating my preferences already, I have no plug-ins running. I'll try the others in the morning.

edit:

my curiosity got to me, logged in as a guest on my computer and it works just fine. Log back in on my user account and it crashes instantly still. Also in safe mode it's the same result, works on the guest account but not my main user account.

Uh oh! Sorry to hear that, Tony!

Could you also share your crash log here? Please post it to http://pastebin.com and link us the url.

Thanks!
