Updated Indesign last week, and it's really really slow.
Lots of lagging - very sluggish in moving things around, menus slow to respond etc. Very frustrating.
Colleague has the same issue both at work and on personal Mac.
Using Mac fully spec'd up to meet requirements.
Help!

See when I had 2015 it was nasty, then I went back to 2014 which worked ok for a while, now it's just as bad. I can tell when the apps are crunching vs crashing and both InDesigns are definitely crashing/lagging/choking. So, it must be ID itself and the supporting apps if both 2014 and 2015 doing.
EDIT: 2014 absolutely died today so I installed 2015 and uninstalled Creative Cloud. It's usable, it might be a workaround for some...

I think it is still very slow. I can't even enter a menu... time out.

Does Adobe pay attention to these Forums? If so hows come this is not fixed yet? They put out updates that really fix nothing and the major crap just gets left alone..WHy is this?

There is a moderators forum where we can raise issues like this, which I did about 6 weeks ago. An Adobe staff member forwarded the topic to the right product manager. I've just posted a question to ask if there is any news yet.

Yeah i have a File being looked at by Adobe now. They were on my PC for about 4 hours one day trying to fix it and nothing. Now they are reviewing it. I pointed them twords this Form and several of its Threads about the subject.

Deleting the CC Libraries app in the Adobe folder in utilities on a mac and then making sure the CC Libraries window in InDesign stays closed took care of the issue across multiple macs. Just watch out for updates that may reinstall it.

While I think it's great you all found a temporary workaround, I'm almost disappointed you are sharing your stories. If the developers ever do fix this issue, you can almost guarantee they will use your workaround to prevent people from stopping the cloud sharing functions. In the meantime, I continue using the 2014 version.

So I've finally solved my problems - not sure if it's a practical workaround though.
- had massive issues with 2014
- swapped to 2014 where I had less issues, but still a lot
- removed CC libraries and cloud synching (all)
- removed CC app
- re-installed 2015 next to 2014
- updated to El Capitan
For some reason, I now have a perfectly functioning 2015 setup, even PS and AI are working smoothly again.

It's brutal. Reminds me of Photoshop in the early 90s where you would run a filter on your Quadra 800 and need to go take a smoking break (even if you didn't smoke)

Have you updated to InDesign CC 2015.2?

HI steve, yes i have personally updated, and still the problem exists, complete lag on indesign and photoshop, running a 2011 imac i5 with 8GB ram, gigabyte network and broadband connection always consistent 20MB+, everyone in my studio is experiencing the very same thing.

Dave

Does this happen with files locally stored on your hard drive, or is this a problem with files opened from a common file server?

We all will probably have to wait a few months till 2016 comes out to get this fixed unfortunately . The latest update did help (Very little) but it helped.

The great majority of people using InDesign CC 2015.2 are no longer having performance issues. Otherwise, the forum would be swarmed with complaints (as we were when 2015.0 appeared in June). There is something particular to your environment or configuration, unfortunately, causing the problem. Trying to sort out what it is is the problem.
In the meantime, you can use CC 2014 if that provides better performance.

The down side is 2014 and earlier works just fine on all these files the only thing that changed was upgrading to 2015. Now i will say that is just 2 different types of labels we work with now thank goodness. However there are over 300 files of those. Now again it has its way better than it was at the beginning however i still get pretty laggy on those files. it is workable now it just takes twice as long to do those.

This is a problem caused by Adobe trying to sync everything to the cloud. A simple network sniffer can prove it out. The ONLY way to avoid the problem in to go back to 2014.

Reverting back to 2014 version isnt an option im afraid, ive a team of 5 designers that have produced a lot of work in 2015 and we dont have the grace of time to redo that work, in reply to rickhino it has got steadily worse since the sync libraries came to the for recently, i had realised it is a sync-related problem.

You don't have to redo the work. Save the files as idml and reopen in 2014. Yes, it's a pain but it will save time in the long run.

Yeah i know that but as i said i just dont have the time, just want the software we pay for to work efficiently, i really think adobe are releasing updates and are beta testing live now.

and apologies if that sounds negative, ive used adobe and associated software since photoshop 1 and this is the worst performance bottleneck ive experienced since 1996 when foolishly trying to add a radial blur onto a 45mb photoshop file (gone to lunch, and tea - lol)

Good news is that 2016 will be coming out soon and will hopefully fix any known issues without adding many other issues to the program.

I hope you're right, but I'll be watching for posts indicating the problem is fixed before performing any upgrades. And I won't perform any updates until after I've read reviews. No more automatic updates and we are seriously searching for different software.
