InDesign CC scaling & constraining problem

Hi I am set up at a new job and InDesign is not functioning properly. I am used to ID CS3 and here they are using InDesign CC 2014 on an iMac running 10.11.6.

I originally had to hand tool function to scroll around so i had to reassign the space bar. Only then did I realize the "H" tool was already assigned. Lesson learned there.

But now I believe the only issues I am having is not able to constrain an object using the Shift key when scaling AND not constraining an object when moving or rotating. I have searched the forum and online but cannot find a working solution. Is there something that has changed from CS3 to CC regarding this? Do I need to make a change in order to constrain again?? Thanks!

Do you have the Anti Virus "Webroot" installed by any chance? I had the same problem, space bar didn't toggle the hand tool, Alt-click-dragging an object didn't copy it, shift didn't constrain proportions. I went into Webroot Advanced Settings, Realtime Shield, then disabled "secure keyboard entry mode" and it worked for me.

Sometimes other applications interfere with the modifier keys in the Adobe products. Common culprits are browsers, browser extensions and anti-virus apps. Try rebooting your computer and don't open any other applications besides InDesign to see if that makes a difference. Think about the apps that auto-load in the background as well, and see if you can figure out which one it is.

Just tried restarting with InDesign being the only app and there was no change. I was crossing fingers for that to work but no luck.

    What apps auto-load?
