InDesign CC Selection Tool cursor disappears on Mac OS High Sierra

Community Beginner ,
Sep 26, 2017 Sep 26, 2017

As soon as I installed Mac High Sierra Beta my Selection tool cursor started to change into a square, multicoloured box (something that resembles bad video signal pattern)

I hoped the proper High Sierra will solve the problem, but since yesterday's release the problem persists.

Every time I must restart InDesign in order to use it normally for few minutes.

Reinstall, Preference cleaning doesn't work.

Any suggestions?

This has been a highly reported problem during the beta testing for High Sierra. Hopefully, a bug fix will be available soon.

Your bet is to restore your computer to the backup you made before you installed High Sierra. When Apple provides a bug fix, we can all upgrade if we choose.

Hi,

We have isolated this issue, it is present on MAC OS 10.13, and can occur anytime whenever cursor related functionality being used like placing/drag-drop/selection etc.

We are actively working with Apple on this issue to get it resolved as soon as possible. However, it may not get fixed with the GM build of High Sierra (10.13), but a subsequent Dot Release.

We will surely let our customer know, once we have more information from Apple.

Currently the only workarounds are:

1) Restart InDesign.

2) Revert back to MAC OS 10.12.6

Well, sorry for being sarcastic, but I'll take this as a huge relief...

Will humbly anticipate those two software giants to present me with their merciful gratitude...

It’s amazing... this bug is known for more than a week ago... and still nothing from Adobe?

Are we getting a discount in this month’s receipt? Hehhehehe

It's been longer than a week and it's Apple's bug to fix.

Glad I decided not to be an early adopter and am in regular old "Low" Sierra. Learned my lesson back when OS X first came out.

As far as I'm aware the discussion her his about software, not philosophy...

Any off topic life experience could be interesting subject, but not here.

Just sharing personal opinion. Cheers!

Hi all,

As you know, Mac OS 10.13 High Sierra is now publicly available for all Mac users to install. However, InDesign CC 2017 (and earlier versions) for Mac was not optimized for High Sierra. We are actively working with Apple on this issue to get it fixed asap. If you are experiencing InDesign compatibility issues with High Sierra, please report them to Adobe InDesign Feedback. By reporting on User Voice you will receive a notification when the issues are resolved. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Here's a link with more details: Known issues - Running InDesign CC on macOS 10.13 High Sierra

Regards,

Om
