Indesign Color match Error

"The document's embedded color porfile does not match the current RGB working space. the current RGB color maanagmenent policy is to discard profiles that do not matchthe working space." clcick cancel or Okay

error. what does this mean

I have changed nothing in the file or the program I just updated my OS but now I cant open files without this... and Im nervous about destroying my books. I have over a thousand pages of images and I need them. But I cant open if I hit cancel and I don't know what it would do if I hit okay. Everything is linked in bridge Im so confused. Please assist.

Some simple google searching tells me that:

InDesign 2025 will run on Monterey (but you are aging off the back edge of compatibility)

Bookman Old Style is still available on Monotype's library of fonts (myfonts.com)

Can you be more specific? What operating system? What version before vs after? Are you opening up permissions and application security (if macOS)?

I have 1 2015 Retina 5k, 27 inch custom made Apple iMAc4 GHZ Quad Core i7 48 1868 MHz DDR3 AMD Radeon R9 4gb 5 Terahert fusion duel core HD.

Before it was I cant remember now its the CRAPPY macos Monterey which nearly lost all my data I had to manually pull each file because the goram OS cant even read my timemachine. Don 't get me started the OS has been the probelm since day one. I have custum font packs missing they are unique they were made by hanpainting and brought in through photoshop I have to have them for the project and they are gone/ The project also REQUIRES the use of BookMan OldStyle which is no longer supported or some BS I dunno but I am REQUIRED to use InDesign so I am really starting to get upset. This project is due soon and I have to maitain the guidlines the company gives me.

I don't know about settings I don;t anything other than design I am not a computer person I can make master sheets and import that is the limit of my skill set. and my ability to understand.

This sounds like you've come up against the discontinuation of support for Postscript fonts. YOu should be able to obtain an OpenType version of whichever weights/styles you need from any number of reliable font vendors (avoid the free font sites). If your custom fonts were also saved as Postscript fonts that would explain why they are gone and you'll have to have them re-saved as OpenType or TrueType by whoevever made the for you originally.

On the above page, disregard the beginning (Adobe Gamma?!?! How old is this?) and start at Configuring Color Settings and work your way down through the steps.

A six-year-old document file might still be calling for old PostScript Type 1 fonts. If so, you need to go to Type menu > Find/Replace Font and make updated choices for fonts that are OpenType versions. Try visiting fonts.adobe.com to browse for fonts and activate them for InDesign. Go to the CC App to install them availabe to all programs on your computer.

When changing fonts in the Find/Replace Font dialog box, make sure you tick ON the switch that says "Redefine Style When Changing All"

I don't understand. Its just this one document and everything changed when I upgraded my OS.

Hi @K.C. Taylor,

That message is just a color profile mismatch warning. Clicking OK will discard the document’s embedded profile and apply InDesign’s working space, which might slightly shift colors. Clicking Cancel prevents the file from opening.

To stop this, go to Edit > Color Settings and set RGB Color Management Policy to Preserve Embedded Profiles. Your linked images will remain intact. Give it a try and let me know how it goes!

I tried that it was already selected and the work looks terrible like every text window now has imbedded highlight I cant remove. And not its saying my fonts are missing ... Im new to tears I worked on this project for six years.

What color is that highlight? Does it go away if you go to Preview mode?

What operating sytem and recent update, and waht version of InDesign?
