InDesign Compatibility Concerns with MacOS 15 Sequoia: Should You Upgrade?

Contributor ,

I was wondering, now that MacOS 15 has gotten released, are there any known issues with InDesign like we had with the last MacOS Sonoma update? Adobe hasn’t updated the system requirements yet to incllude Sequoia in the list, but they are not the fastest any more, also like we have learned last time.

I know, I’m not going to update to MacOS 15 right away anyways, cause I only have one working Mac nowadays, so I’ll wait for at least 15.1 maybe. Hope it’s not gonna be as stressful as last time.

Cheers guys

I'll state the obvious. Yes, you should wait but if you don't make a full system backup before you upgrade. This holds even if Adobe does announce that everything is fine.

How much RAM do you have? (Sorry if I missed it from a previous post, but I looked...)

Also, make sure you are not running third-party utilities such as Magnet, Benq display, Typeface, (or any font manager) as a test.

No problem the system (MacStudio) has 64 GB RAM and none the mentioned program are running and are not on the system. Since I am in the middle of a production period for a magazine I ran into the problem. It is a huge issue but nevertheless it toke my attention.

Something I have experienced, and this was even with Adobe InDesign CC 2024 is that the big troublemaker was the newest version of "Connect Fonts". The software changed many things in their latest release at the time. I disabled the plugins for auto-activation and the issues were gone. At home I am playing a bit with CC 2025 under Sequoia and found no major lag issues so far. I'm using a Mac Mini M1 with 16 GB unified memory. At the office we have Mac Studio M2 Ultra with 128 GB unified memory. If 128 GB would be insufficient, then I don't know what you have to buy to get InDesign properly running tbh. 🙂
