Indesign: dissappeared notes?

Hello,

Can anybody help on a footnote/endnote problem in InDesign CC?

I had to work in a file from a collegue. When I installed IDD CC and openend the file (and loaded the fonts), all the notes and endnotes had disseapeared. There's nothing to see where there should be notes.

It was the first time I worked in IDD CC, so maybe I did something wrong.

Thanks for your help.

endnotes. Also the notes (in superscript) in the text are gone.

Deleting the frame the Endnotes are in deletes the Endnotes and all references within the text (in superscript). That is the only way I know to make them all disappear at once.

Were they there when you first opened the document?

We work in the same version of Indesign CC.

    Which version (exactly)?

Get your colleague to save his document as an IDML file and then you try opening that.

When you say Notes, do you mean Notes or Footnotes?

If so, make sure you are in Normal view, not Preview. Or look in the Notes panel or the Story Editor.

Endnotes are in a frame. If the frame is deleted, all of the endnotes disappear. Or if you open it in an earlier version that does not support endnotes.

What do you see when you open the Story Editor?

What happens if your colleague reopens the file? Are they back? She/He sent a copy, right, or you closed without saving?

What did you do besides File > Open?

Story editor: expand all footnotes = grey

My collegue is on holiday and can't reopen the file.

Could it be that I opened it by accident before in an earlier version of IDD and then reopened it in IDD CC, and then the notes disseapeared?

I did not compose the notes by myself. They were in the document before I opened it.

Do you mean "Notes", "Foot Notes" or "End Notes"?

Are you both using the same version of InDesign and the same OpenType Fonts?
