Hi folks. I receive an error from iTunes producer when I try to upload my epub (fixed Layout) created from InDesign. It says ERROR ITMS-90228: "Images larger than 4,000,000 pixels are not allowed in books."
I tried to resize all my images but the error persists. Then I downloaded eCanCrusher to be able to look into epub components. The error message refers to /OEBPS/11.png and a few others. Within the epub file folder OEBPS there are no png files, there are only xhtml files, in sequence. I am assuming the error occur in the file 11.xhtml, but I am not sure, because some of the files with errors point to pages that have no images, they have text /text boxes!
It makes no sense because all my images have 768 x 1024 pixels. I checked each and every one of them and they all have this command (inspect):
style="width:768px;height:1024px."
Is it a bug? Is it related to text box containers or something else? Can anybody help me solve this please?
I tried to redo some sample pages that used to have errors using Apple Pages, and the file uploaded OK. However, the size is too big, and that's why I am still struggling with InDesign.
Thank you.
Good news: I found the error!!! Thanks to your help, Rob.
Let me explain, because others can benefit from this, or maybe Adobe can correct this bug or at least explain why it occurs (if there is an explanation.) My book is about colors. So for some pages I created a colored rectangle in InDesign (not PhotoShop) as a background.
You see below the yellow (30.png), the green (39.png), these 2 had error. I simply deleted and re-created and all good. But there was a white image (69.png) with errors

Hi @CristieMarie , it sounds like it might be a filled page item that has been rasterized? Here I have a filled frame behind text that is 9" x 6.5". If I set the Conversion Settings Resolution at 300ppi, the rectangle exports as a 2700 x 1950 px PNG (5,265,000px):
The PNG path is OEBPS ▸ image ▸ 2.png and loads into epubtest-2.xhtml

Hi Rob, thank you for the thorough explanation.
Resolution on InDesign Conversion Settings is 72 ppi, because it will be a digital publication. For JPEG I set Medium. In PhotoShop Image Size, the resolution may be different, but I am assuming InDesign adjusts... But most of these errors point to pages without images (that's why I was asking about the correspondence between png and xhtml.)
Here is the error message:
Here are the epub file components: (no png, only xhtml, even under image folder.)
When I open one of the 7.xhtml files, for example, and then click on inspect, I get this:
My text box has 624x838px, and the container has 20 times this dimension (12480x16760px).
Not sure if this is a problem or the problem because other pages have similar container dimensions, and they do not all appear on the error message...
Thank you!
@derek, yes, iTunes Producer accepts epub books on the Files tab and also a optional book sample.

The error messgae says there are PNGs in the Image folder, but your desktop capture is not showing the Image folder’s contents — it’s not toggled open:
Also, in your capture of the XHTML, we can’t see the contents of the styled DIV—toggle its arrow down to see the DIV’s contents:

My book will be for sale within the next 24 hours!
Thank you again!

What are the dimensions of the page in inches?

Hi!
I have been struggling with the sam issue for 2 months! I found the images in the images folder that has the issue and the size did not exceed the maximum accepted. I tried the suggested solution and I still didn't manage to upload. There are 3 images that seem to have this problem as shown below:
When I open the epub file though I can't see the 44.png in it:
I have tried to reduce the size of the others but it seems to be ok even when I inspect the xhtml.
Is there something I am missing?
Thanks!
