InDesign fails to launch MacBook Pro M2

Since one week my InDesign program fails to launch on my new MacBook Pro M2 Max.

After one second of initial window the window disappears without a comment.

The result is that I have to deinstall and reinstall the software every one or two days..

Interesting thing: on my old MacBook from 2017 the software is still running smoothly.

Why is that the case with my new MacBook?

What operating system. This sounds like the Ventura bug that was fixed by Apple with the 13.5 update.

Do not upgrade to Sonoma!

I have actually already upgraded to Sonoma (14.0). Do you have more information about that bug?

Sonoma has its own issues. InDesign is not compatible or perhaps Sonoma is not compatible with InDesign.

I'm a Windows guy so I only know what I read here.

I have the same problem with my MacBook Pro M2 Max for about a week. The workaround with the cashe worked.
However, this is not a solution. I have already tried all possible versions of Indesign (18.X & 19.0), all freeze shortly after starting the application.

Do others in this thread still have the problem?
Is there any information when Adobe will fix the problem?

Actually after a couple of back and forth with many things, finally i found a workaround for this issue. Just go to ~/Library/caches and add an ".old" to end of the name of the folder called "Adobe Indesign" inside the caches folder.

This solution worked for me even after fair amounts of launching and quitting the indesign app.

As i mentioned before, i'm using a 2023 macbook pro with m2 max chipset, so if you have another hardware that faces the same problem, you might want to give this a try.

hm, that's a workaround and hardly a solution.

By renaming or trashing the cache InDesign builts a new cache folder, but you will also trash your custom keyboard shortcuts with this procedure.

I'll have an eye on the help file; hope the support of M2 machines will be announced in October with the next version of InDesign. In the meanwhile I'm working on a refurbished MacBook Pro with the M1 processor. No issue so far.

Hi Both,

I also have this InDesign crashing-on-loading problem. I have the Mac Mini Pro M2 chip, which my employer purchased for me agaist my better judgement (never be an early-adopter of new tech = guineapig). The same IT support that bought this computer has declined to help me find a solution to this problem. I'm a busy graphic designer and I can't wait for Adobe to maybe address this issue with the October update of CS. As an Adobe community expert, do you have any other possible solutions/suggestions?

Seems, that InDesign is not fully compatible with the M2.

At least that's my interpretation of the footnote given on M2 chip machines here:

I have the same issue. Everytime I install indesign, works fine first time. If i close and try to reopen the app, everything stops after a glimpse of splash screen.
