Hello Adobe Community,

A file I have been working on for a whole lot of time and is almost done is now crashing when I open it.

This is our 2019 catalog and I need to print it this week..

When I open other files I don't have a problem.

I appreciate your help!

There are multiple factors both internal and external to InDesign application that can lead to document corruption. However, I can take a look and see if the file can be repaired. Please email your InDesign file to corrupt_indesign_docs@adobe.com and I will take a look at the document.

If the file is larger than 10 Mb, you can zip (and password protect) the file and upload to Creative Cloud account (or Dropbox) and send us the document link.

Which version of InDesign and OS?

Do you have a backup of an earlier version of the document?

You probably have a corrupt document, and if so, you’ll need to consult a specialist file recovery service.

Always regularly do a Save As and incrementally rename your file when you’re working on a document for a long time; it clears out the crud that builds up over time.

Hi,

open the older file in InDesign CC 2018 and save it in idml, then open it in InDesign CC 2019.

When I open it Indesign crashes before the file opens.. (in 2018 and 2019..)

And I don't know why it opens 2019, I did not have 2019 before..

All files open in 2018

My team and I too are having problems opening most of are indesign files.  It seems to be any files that have been packaged...with linked files. Here is the behavior....

Open file, asks if links need to be updated (doesn't matter if I select yes or no, same result)....program says it's opening the document and crashes.

I force quit ID 2019 and when I reopen it, it shows the document that I attempted to open as a new untitled document.  We have even resaved all of our files we've had to open this way to replace the old files that wouldn't open/crashed the program.  It doesn't matter.  When we try to reopen the files that we re-saved in Indesign 2019, the result is the same...crashes the program.

We are able to open old documents fine still in 2018.  Whole team on macOS (mojave).  We've not only reinstalled indesign, we've reinstalled the whole creative suite to try and fix just this issue.  All of us have updated to the latest update.
