indesign file names changed and cant open

New Here ,
Aug 18, 2021 Aug 18, 2021

My main InDesign folder somehow changed the file names of all my Indesign files to add a weird string of text and numbers. Deleting these still doesnt allow me to open the files. I have never seen this happen.

Any ideas as to what caused this?

@Peter5E6E That is really strange. Have you recently moved or copied these files from one server or drive to another? Is there another directory where your original files are stored and if so, can you open, work on, and save those documents normally? It may be a case of malware as Brad @ Roaring Mouse suggests but this can happen if you are moving or overwriting files.
