My main InDesign folder somehow changed the file names of all my Indesign files to add a weird string of text and numbers. Deleting these still doesnt allow me to open the files. I have never seen this happen.
Any ideas as to what caused this?
I hate to say this, but I woud check for malware on your system.
Yes, just unfortunatley confirmed it was ransomware. 😞
Yoiks. Hope you are able to resolve this successfully
Oh, so sorry to hear it, Peter. Hope it doesn't set you back too much. Thanks for letting us know.
@Peter5E6E That is really strange. Have you recently moved or copied these files from one server or drive to another? Is there another directory where your original files are stored and if so, can you open, work on, and save those documents normally? It may be a case of malware as @roaringmousegraphics suggests but this can happen if you are moving or overwriting files.
