InDesign files not compatible with creative cloud?

Why am I not able to save in design files in creative cloud? All of the other programs save in creative cloud except in design. It says that the file is not supported when I try to upload. Also when I open InDesign I'm not given any options to open files or C files to creative cloud. Is this normal?

Just use a file syncing service like Dropbox or your CC account (Creative Cloud Files folder).

Adobe’s file syncing service will end in February, but it works the same as any other file sync’ing services like DB.

There is an InDesign cloud format in the latest Beta, which will probably work like Photoshop’s .PSDC format. Keep in mind the file you are actually working on is a local tmp file, which syncs back to the cloud account—you are not actually working on a web server.

With Adobe's design and development abilities one would think that they would figure out a way to make InDesign files available anywhere, this has been a constant headache for me.

Also, in case it is not clear from Barb’s link, all files that you saved to your local Creative Cloud Files folder (which is installed by default in your computer’s user folder) are automatically uploaded to your Adobe cloud server when you have an internet connection with syncing turned on. If you view your account in a web browser the CFF files will be listed in the Synced files directory.

I think you are referring to cloud documents? Cloud documents are cloud-native files that you can open and edit in compatible apps. With cloud documents, your work is always updated, across every device, wherever you are. You can work with cloud documents in the following five Creative Cloud apps: XD, Photoshop, Fresco, Aero and Illustrator. That's a total of five CC applications and InDesign is not on this list—nor are the majority of CC apps—so yes, this is normal. You are not doing anything wrong. See https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/about-cloud-documents.html

You can, however, take advantage of CC storage which means that files store on the CC servers are associated with your Adobe ID, and you can access them from any computer that you sign in with your ID.
