InDesign is useless with Apple M1 MAX Studio

I'm using a new Apple Mac Studio with M1 Max and 64 GB RAM.

BUT InDesign is absolutley useless, because it just doesen't work. Spinning wheel when going to an other page all the time, freezing, crashing and a again the same BS after reinstalling.

InDesign makes no sense on this processor - it's just not working. Doesn't matter which version (including 17.4.). It only runs on an old Intel 😞

Getting crazy about this Indesign.... ! I should earning money with this program - if it would work, but it doesn't do it's job.

Yes CC Desktop App has been released for M1 chip.

What you can do is uninstall the current version of your CC Desktop App. Use the CC Cleaner Tool, link given below

Then download the app from the link given below, see the section "WHERE CAN I DOWNLOAD MY APP?". Hopefully this will install the M1 version of the app

How did you install InDesign? Did you install it from a backup, another computer or from Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop Application?

I've some feedback for this Adobe- and M1-Problem:

If I use Safari (with several open windows), it will take about max. one hour and the Mac Studio becomes extremely slow. It looks as the RAM would be completely filled (by Safari ?) and slows down the MAC. I've to quit the story b pressing the Off-button for a while, because the system doesn't work anymore.

If I use Firefox (which I don't like very much), there isn't this problem at all...

Has anybody any idea how to solve this problem?

Hi @donath4047843,

From what I have read on some experiences shared by fellow users, in some cases Time Machine backup while using InDesign is the culprit and shutting off Time Machine backup resolves the problem. In addition to that see basic troubleshooting steps given in the following article. It also mentions about the Time Machine thing

Thanks for the hints received. Except the Time Machine Isssue I tried most of them before. Will check with next TM backup if I have a difference.

Something which is wondering me: if checking in the Creative cloud it shows (Intel). Is this correct for an M-processor? Isn't there a M-version of InDesign available? I can't choose it at creative cloud...
