InDesign keeps crashing when I try to export

New Here ,
Nov 11, 2025 Nov 11, 2025

I have an issue where each time I load my project, it crashes when I try to edit certain pages or assets. One page in particular is super touchy and every time I touch anything on that page, it crashes. I tried to export to pdf so I could at least save what I have, but it crashed there too. I am collaborating with another user and the same thing happened to them, so I know it's not my computer. This is an educational resource for teachers that is grant funded, and is due Fri, so I need to have this done ASAP. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks - guy

What are your InDesign and operating system versions? Also, at what point did the problem start (InDesign or OS update etc)? Were you ever able to work on this document successfully? Plus, can you share a crash report (just don't post its text in your message, attach a text file or a link to an external resource such as Pastebin).

Thanks for the response. Two different computers have had the same problem of it crashing. Mine is Windows 11, the other is a mac, not sure their version. Problem started after we updated to version 21.0. I had an older version, my colleague had updated, and when they worked in the doc it somehow converted it to the newest version so I was forced to update to be able to open the doc. Then when I updated, it started crashing. I tried uninstalling the newest upgrade, and then opening it and "converting" it to a previous version, but it said it wouldn't convernt. Sorry I forgot to save a screenshot of the error logs. I'll do that in a follow up post.

Sure! Here is the indesign file link itself, via clicking the "..." in the top right corner of the doc and hitting "share document", hope it works:

Hi @guy_0025,

I appreciate you sharing the link. Can you verify if this document is currently stored solely as a cloud file? If feasible, please attempt to save a local copy of the file on your device first, and then share that locally saved INDD file with me via any public cloud service such as Google Drive or Dropbox.

I look forward to your response.

Abhishek
