hello,

I just did a complete "clean up" and reinstalled creative cloud, to fix some issues, those issues got  fixed, but now I have different problem - indesign keeps quitting on me.

I am wondering if there is enough space on my computer. Please find a screenshot of available space and a screenshare.

Try resetting your InDesign preferences. This will restore the program to its defaults. Hopefully, this will fix the issue.

To reset preferences on a Macintosh:

The User Library folder in which InDesign’s preferences are stored is hidden by default on most Macintoshes. To access it make sure that InDesign is closed and click on the desktop to launch a Finder Window (Command-N). With this window in column view follow the path User>Home folder (it’s the folder with an icon that looks like a house—it may have the user’s name rather than “Home”) and click on the Home folder. With the Option Key pressed choose Library from the Finder Go Menu. “Library” will now appear within the Home folder. Within the Library folder find the folder called Preferences and within it find the folder called “Adobe InDesign” and the file called “com.adobe.InDesign.plist” and delete both that folder and that file. When InDesign is next launched it will create new preference files and the program will be restored to its defaults. The advantage of manually deleting preference files in this manner is that after you’ve reset up the program (make sure that no document window is open) to your liking, you can create copies of your personalized “mint” preference files (make sure that you quit the program before copying them—that finalizes your customization) and use them in the future to replace any corrupt versions you may need to delete.

If this does not work then you can also try using the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool. See: https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html for details.

Hello Bill,

I did everything you said. I just use creative cloud cleaner tool. See the link to my previous post.

I also tried to reset indesign Preferences. Unfortunately the files you mentioned do not exist in my folder. Please have a look at the screenshots. Thank you.

Hello @chi wail72431016,

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with InDesign. Let's try to get this resolved for you.

Could you please provide the following details:

  1. The version of InDesign you are using (20.0 or 20.0.1).
  2. The details of your operating system (OS).

In the meantime, please try launching InDesign in Safe Mode to see if the issue persists. Reference: https://adobe.ly/49KErfj

Additionally, please follow the steps in this guide to troubleshoot Creative Cloud applications that crash immediately upon launch: Adobe Creative Cloud apps close immediately after launch

Let us know if these steps help or if you need further assistance.

Best,

Abhishek Rao
