InDesign launch shutdown Application UI.RPLN

New Here ,
Dec 11, 2019 Dec 11, 2019

Hi everyone,

Upon launching InDesign, the program doesn't go further than the loading screen. It shuts down when this loading screen says 'Completing Initialization'. When running Event viewer, the problem seems to lie with the module: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CC\Required\APPLICATION UI.RPLN

The last line reads:  <Data>8259a093-cc5b-4368-ae52-e5ff4de1043f</Data>

I have not updated or changed anything knowingly. I've tried trashing the preferences but no luck so far.
Any ideas? Thanks!

Trash your preferences, but why are you running such an old version of InDesign? It's six full versions out of date.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about the trouble you are facing with InDesign. As suggested by Bob please try resetting the preferences manually by following the steps below:

  • Close all Adobe applications.
  • Go to Locations :
  • C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Adobe
  • C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Adobe.
  •  Rename InDesign folders to InDesign.old
  • Launch InDesign from CC.

Disclaimer: Please note that resetting preferences will remove all the custom settings and InDesign will launch with default settings. This way all your old settings will be saved in .old folders and InDesign will recreate new folders with default settings.

If that doesn't work, I would request if you can confirm the exact version of InDesign and Windows.

Regards

Rishabh
