I'm using mac OS 10.15.7 and Adobe InDesign 2020 15.1.2.226. It has been working fine until a month or so ago. All of the sudden, the Links Panel & Object Styles Panel are blank. No matter which workspace, those 2 panels are blank now, all other panels are fine. I have no idea why this happened. I have not updated InDesign, however there has been an update to Creative Cloud and Acrobat within the time frame.
I opened an InDesign document created back in March that I knew the Links & Object Styles Panels functioned properly and found the Links Panel & Object Styles Panel on that old document are blank now.
Resetting workspaces didn't work. Selecting Links from the Windows menu comes up blank too.
I submitted 3 Screen Shots in JPEG format so it can be viewed in detail, of an InDesign document that has a number of placed photos and an Object Style on the photos. As you can see, those panels are blank.
I need to fix this, but I'm an old graphic designer with very, very limited knowledge about computer technology. I have found little related to my problem and the solutions don't apply or work. I asked a collegue with better expertise, he recommended Resetting the workspace or ask for help from Adobe Support. Resetting doesn't fix the problem, so I need expert help. I may be able to follow very specific step-by-step instructions. Anyone out there willing to help an old lady cross the street?
There are various ways to reset your preferences. What exactly have you done so far?
I have little doubt that this issue is due to corrupt cache and preferences, and you need to move beyond the basic keyboard reset option. I recommend deleting the files manually. The details are in the second half of this post.
