Indesign packaging issue: images not packaged, listed as document in package folder

Long-time INDD user here, teaching basic design to college students. When I opened my sstudent's packaged file,  the link folder contained names of only 5 of the 13 images images in her design, and those were labeled as "documents" (and unusable).  I've never seen this before and am baffled. During our meeeting, I watched as she packaged the file again, checking that the links were good before packaging. She did everything right. This time, only 8 images were included fully.  The 5 missing files were listed but were "missing" and identififed as "documents" and as RGB when they had been CMYK in her file.

I'm at a loss.  Anyone have a clue what's going on? She's working on a PC and is usnig a CC subscription.

What kind of files? and where were they stored? (i.e. locally/cloud/??)

How is the resulting package being transferred to you? e.g. USB stick/network trasnsfer/???  has it been zipped or otherwise compressed?

It sounds like there's a file association issue happening somewhere along the way.

The linked files on her computer and placed in the INDD file are JPG and PSD files.  These are stored locally.  That packaged folder was saved to a One Drive file, and the file was shared with me, so I'm downloading it from One Drive.  However, when we looked at the packaged file on her computer, we saw the problems existed in her links folder before she shared it with me, so it doesn't seem to be a transfer problem.

Hmmm.

Did it make any difference where on her computer she created the Package Folder?
