Hi @dt0245d3009278,

Thanks so much for your patience and for all the details you’ve shared earlier. I wanted to let you know that the product team has resolved this hyperlink tagging issue in exported accessibility PDFs. The fix is available in the latest InDesign Prerelease 21.0 build through the Creative Cloud Desktop App. Please give it a try and let us know if everything works correctly now.

If you don't currently have access to the prerelease builds, you can easily join the InDesign Prerelease Program by following the steps in the links below:

Once you've installed the latest PR build, please test your document again and share your observations here, so we can make sure it’s fully resolved for you.

Looking forward to your update.

Hi @dt0245d3009278,

Thanks for reaching out, and I'm sorry to hear you're running into this issue with the hyperlink tags in your exported accessibility PDF.

To help investigate further, could you please share the following details:

1. The version of InDesign you’re currently using.

2. The operating system and version you're working on.

3. How are you generating the hyperlinks automatically? Are you using a script, Data Merge, or another method?

If possible, please also share:

1. A sample InDesign file that demonstrates the issue. (Package the file and share it via Public cloud service like Google Drive, Dropbox, etc. Reference: https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/preflighting-files-handoff.html#package_files)

2. A short screen recording showing the workflow and how the incorrect tag structure appears in the exported PDF.

If the file is confidential, you can share it via DM on the community with me. This will help me test it on my end and escalate it to the team if needed.

Looking forward to your response!

Hi @dt0245d3009278,

Thank you for sharing the InDesign file via DM. While I am checking it internally with the team, could you also share a short screen recording demonstrating how the incorrect tagging appears in the exported PDF? This will help us document the behavior more clearly.

In the meantime, please test the same file in the latest InDesign 20.5 version and let me know if the issue persists there as well. Your update will help us proceed with the investigation.

Looking forward to your response.

InDesign generates hyperlinks but the in the accessibilty pdf  <Link> tag  &  Link Objr selects another broken link above. This occurs in the whole indd. in the PAC validation it error shows 'Link annotations is not nested in link structure'.  This is seriuos issue as there are more links in the InDesign document which makes it tedious to fix manually in the pdf. Given screenshot of the issue.

In above image Link tag is selecting the text 'Myrset 2022' text and also the text of previous link text 'et al., 2021' text also which is wrong.

In the above image the Link-OBJR should select its link text 'Myrset, 2022' but it is selecting previous link text 'et al., 2021'. From here the whole pdf Link tag is collapsed. The PAC validation  shows error 'Link annotation not nested in link structure'.

Adobe team look into this problem as there is no clarity why it occurs. Solution to fix would be great.

Hi dt,

This error seems to be coming from 20.3.1 version of InDesign. I read that 20.4 promises to cure the fault, but I haven't seen it roll out, yet. Have you considered rolling back to an earlier version?

Thank you Mike for the reply, yes I'm using InDesign version 20.3.1. Will try checking in earlier version.
